Banana Music, Diving and Trash Hero Koh Adang,
Koh Lipe nov-april 13/14
like on facebook: "trash hero koh adang" but first lets start from the beginning with my story since nov 13 ;)
in phuket i did my dive instructor course. 2 weeks study study study. it was a good time. here you see that parts of phuket are occupied by russians ;) its crazy to be in thailand but feeling like you are on a russian island... after the course i went up to khao lak to visit my friend beelan. he played in the banana band last year and it was good to see him again

i slept in the "president suite" ;) back to koh lipe... there is now a 7-11 in lipe... which is not very cool but you get used to it...

job 2 do played in koh lipe! this band is like bob marley in jamaica. it was great to see them live trash hero koh adang
when i came to lipe this season we stoped at a small island with no people living on. it was full of trash that comes from the ocean. i felt really bad about it. since everything went so well in my life for the past 2 years i wanted to do something good... so my friend yaman who is a local chao leh and i started this project and called it "trash hero koh adang"
every monday we take boats and go out to islands around lipe where no people are living. we clean up the beach and bring the trash back to lipe where it gets separated and shiped to the mainland for recycling the trip is for free for everyone since we asked many business in lipe to sponsor it. we are surprised how well it goes and how many people get involved. sometimes 50 people turned up on the beach on a monday morning... just "WOW!"

some local fisherman live on that island in little huts. we started to make a trade. 1 beer per full trash bag. we were surprised to find the same place 1 week later cleaned up and 7 bags full prepared for the trade. you have to understand that they dont produce a lot of trash themselve. they eat rice and fish and drink water and beer... all the trash gets washed to the beach from the ocean. since then we go every monday to do the exchange with them i took my swiss friends to the cleanup. trash hero simon ;)

with the local chao leh people in koh adang. only 10-15 people live there. and they cannot put the trash anywhere. so we help out with that me on the garbage boat ;) sometimes that boat is full with more than 1000kg of trash...
from the little idea of cleaning up a beach a whole project started and its very successfull. we go to another beach every monday so the trash we find is sometimes years old and it comes from everywhere. we find plastic bottles from indonesia, malaysia and from the thai mainland... one of the posters that is hanging up here in koh lipe for the trash hero project. we will reach 10'000kg trash in 1 week. it sounds shoking but you have to see the positive. the beaches are now 10'000 times cleaner than before. the difference is remarkable and the reward for all the people who join the project is great. we are very proud that there is no money involved in the project only sponsors for boats, food and trash bags.
we created that trailer / movie and dive shops and bars show it on tv or before the movie nights. that way we can reach many tourist that documentary was done by a friend from langkawi. herry was allready in lipe a year ago for a visit. he joined the cleanup on monday and asked if he should do a little movie... well finally he worked 4 days on the editing part. thanks to www.backpackingasia.com

together with marco we played 3 weddings in koh lipe. have a look how hard my job is ;) this is probably the most beautiful location i ever played in my life ;) in november 13. denise from austria did sing for us and it was magical. such a great voice
my friends from kuala lumpur. we met harvey last season in lipe and he showed me around in the time i was in kuala lumpur. now he came back with jason and viruz. great sounds in the longtail bar ;) my 2 brothers made it to koh lipe. as "The Peter Brothers" we played a few songs on stage. yea ;)
